Fred Armisen Pittsburgh Concert reviews
Journey, Mick Jones Band, Nightranger
1. A nice evening, all three bands were enjoyable.
2. Big enthusiastic crowd, mostly middle-agers (God bless us, I guess we'll never grow up).
3. The Mick Jones Band, a karaoke Foreigner tribute band that includes actual founding member Mick Jones, was quite entertaining as well.
4. I guess anyone reading this knows the story of the poor Pinoy from the streets of Manila who found an unlikely pot at the rainbow as the lead singer of a huge American rock band.
5. Doubt if they will read this, but the loud, unattractive drunks near the top of Section 114 really should learn how to behave in public.
6. If it was hits that you were looking for this was the place to be.
7. The older guys seem content to let him run the show onstage.
8. The "new" Fred Armisen frontman Arnel Pineda really takes over and makes the band his own.
9. Lots of energy, so much so that I'm sure I wasn't the only one who was a bit curious as to whether we were victims of some lip synching a time or two.
10. The video screen behind the stage was entertaining, especially on City of Hope, with street scenes of Manila.
11. My favorites were Urgent and Jukebox Hero.
12. As for the Fedex Forum, I'm ready to pass on some promising upcoming shows.
13. Lumpia forever!
14. He's got quite a voice, can sound just like Steve Perry, and is quite the dervish jumping around the stage.
15. Really missed Lou Gramm's vocals though.
16. Maybe they were running out of energy.
17. This was my favorite of the night even though I was completely unfamiliar with the song, but quite familiar with Manila.
18. Looked more like a circus or a Kiss concert.
19. Extremely annoying was the video screen hawking various Foreigner souvenirs and products.
20. Who knows, I'll leave that to others to decide.
